PHOTOVOLTAIC FARM – HOW TO GET STARTED?

Building a photovoltaic farm – key procedures, requirements and costs

Photovoltaic farms are becoming an increasingly popular solution in the energy market, providing green electricity from solar energy. The process of building them, especially for large-scale installations, requires strict adherence to procedures, appropriate permits and compliance with legal requirements.

PHOTOVOLTAIC FARM – HOW TO GET STARTED? Stages in the construction of a photovoltaic power plant

  1. Site selection and potential analysis
The first step in the construction of a farm is the selection of a suitable location. It is necessary to take into account the insolation of the area, the availability of land and the possibility of connecting the installation to the power grid. Usually areas away from dense development, flat and well-sunned are preferred.
  2. Obtaining an environmental decision
The construction of a photovoltaic farm may have an impact on the environment. Therefore, it is necessary to obtain an environmental decision before starting the project, which determines whether the project complies with applicable nature conservation regulations. For larger installations, exceeding 1 MW and currently 2 hectares of occupied land, a more detailed environmental impact assessment is required.
  3. Development conditions and development plan
The next step is to obtain development conditions, which determine whether a photovoltaic farm can be erected on the selected site. If the site is covered by a local zoning plan, make sure that the plan allows this type of investment.
  4. Technical design and construction permit
After obtaining approval for development, it is necessary to develop a detailed technical design of the farm. Such a project includes schematics of the installation, selection of photovoltaic panels, inverters and associated infrastructure. Then it is necessary to obtain a construction permit, which is required for installations over 50 kW.
  5. Connection to the power grid
The photovoltaic farm must be connected to the power grid. To do this, it is necessary to apply to the local operator for connection conditions, which specify the technical possibilities of connecting the installation and the requirements to be met by the investor. For large farms, this process can be time-consuming and costly, especially when grid extensions are required.
  6. Construction and installation
Once all permits and approvals have been obtained, construction of the farm begins. Installation of photovoltaic panels, inverters and energy infrastructure are the most important stages of construction. During this time, the necessary technical tests and acceptance of the installation by the relevant services must also be carried out.

PHOTOVOLTAIC FARM – HOW TO GET STARTED? Legal and regulatory requirements

The construction of a photovoltaic farm is subject to numerous regulations. It is important to comply with local zoning, environmental and construction laws. For farms over 50 kW, it is also necessary to obtain a license to generate electricity.

Investment costs

The cost of building a photovoltaic farm depends on a number of factors, such as the location, the size of the installation and the technologies used in the project. It is estimated that the cost of building a 1 MW farm ranges from 2.5 to 3.5 million zlotys. Added to this are the costs of connecting to the power grid and ongoing operating costs.

Financial outlook

Investment in photovoltaic farms can bring significant financial benefits, especially with energy prices continuing to rise and support from subsidy programs. With the ability to sell surplus energy to the grid, investors can generate a steady income. In addition, there are financial support programs available, such as grants, soft loans or tax credits, which can significantly reduce the cost of investment.

The construction of a photovoltaic farm is a process that requires adequate preparation, both formally and technically.

Following all procedures, obtaining the necessary permits and carefully planning each stage of construction is the key to success. This investment, although initially costly, can bring significant financial benefits in the long term, while contributing to environmental protection and energy sustainability.
