Photovoltaic installation – overview in Zawiercie

Photovoltaic installation – review in Zawiercie in the Silesia.

Our customers’ solar installations are getting old. Some of them were installed even five years ago. Therefore, we are getting more and more often from their owners orders for inspection of PV installations. It is not uncommon for the orders to be linked to the end of the installer’s warranty for the installation and sometimes to the expiration of the five-year warranty. According to the regulations, every electrical installation should undergo an inspection at least once every five years. And the photovoltaic system is such an electrical installation.

This time it was a matter of checking the installation after 5 years of use. Therefore, our service technicians went to Zawiercie to perform the service: PHOTOVOLTAIC INSTALLATION – REVIEW.

What did we check on the 4.6 kWp installation?

As always, we collect basic data on the solar system before proceeding.

  1. When was the installation installed?
  2. Where is it placed?
  3. What devices does it consist of?
  4. Are there any problems with its use?

In this customer’s case, we were dealing with a more than 5-year-old installation, mounted on the ground, in the back behind the house. It consisted of 20 panels of 230W each, giving a total output of 4.60 kWp. The photovoltaic modules set on a ground structure, while the HUAWEI inverter was placed in a utility room about 20 meters away.

Photovoltaic installation – an overview

Of course, upon arrival, we first started with a visual inspection of the structure, modules and inverters. The structure and the inverter received a positive rating after visual inspection, meaning that there was nothing of concern with them. On the other hand, we found quite a bit of dirt on the photovoltaic modules, hence in the post-inspection report we included a recommendation to washing the photovoltaic panels. The dirt is mainly dust, sand, tree dust residue and bird droppings. When asked if the level of production decreased – the customer said yes, but he did not think it was due to dirty panels…. A ONE!

Then we also checked the condition of the cables and connectors – here, too, we had no reservations.

Dirty photovoltaic panels

Our next step was to take control measurements. Voltage on individual strings, ground resistance and also current. Everything according to the guidelines of the standards used for the inspection of photovoltaic installations.

The inspected photovoltaic installation (inspection) passed both stages (the exception was dirty photovoltaic panels). All that remained for our client was to schedule a date for washing his photovoltaic modules.
