Photovoltaic installation on the roof
Advantages:
- Space Efficiency: Rooftop installations are ideal for situations where we don’t have available space on the ground. They make use of already existing space, eliminating the need for additional space.
- Space saving: By placing the panels on the roof, valuable space is not lost that could be used in other ways, such as a garden or playground.
- Lower installation costs: Since the roof is already a prefabricated supporting structure, the costs associated with the construction of special foundations are significantly lower compared to ground installations.
- Aesthetics: the installation on the roof is less conspicuous, making it less intrusive to the appearance of the landscape and the home’s surroundings.
Disadvantages:
- Accessibility for servicing: Roof-mounted panels can be more difficult to service, especially for taller buildings. Regular maintenance, cleaning and technical inspections can be more demanding and costly.
- Limited space: The roof area may limit the number of panels, which in turn will affect the power of the installation. For large commercial installations, the roof may not accommodate enough panels.

- Construction Costs: Ground-mounted installations require solid foundations and special mounting structures, which increases construction costs. Landscaping and ground preparation may also be necessary.
- Environmental hazards: Installations on the ground may be more exposed to weather conditions, such as wind, rain, and pollution, which can affect their durability. There is also a risk of mechanical damage, such as by animals.
- Site protection requirement: For large ground installations, it may be necessary to fence off the site to protect the installation from damage and ensure safety.

Rooftop installations require more care to access the panels. Servicing the panels may require hiring specialized teams with lifting equipment, which increases maintenance costs.
